Description Share your Gourd Salto Bielakowicz Barbacua Yerba Mate 500g – Artisan Smoked Monte from Misiones Salto Bielakowicz is an artisanal Argentine yerba mate from Los Helechos, in the center of Misiones, crafted by a small family project that has been producing barbacuá yerba since the 1970s. This con palo blend is dried using the traditional barbacuá method and naturally aged for over 18–24 months, creating a rich, smoked character with a deep, long-lasting flavor. Barbacuá Flavor & Aroma In the gourd, Salto Bielakowicz offers a full-bodied infusion with a distinctive campfire smokiness, woody notes and hints of nuts, freshly baked bread and smoked plum. The bitterness is firm and classic yet well balanced, and many drinkers note that despite the intense flavor it does not cause heartburn when properly prepared and sipped slowly.Traditional barbacuá drying for authentic smoky character. Medium-to-fine cut with plenty of leaves, stems and powder for strong body. Robust, long-lasting taste that holds up over many refills. Origin, Craftsmanship & Aging This yerba comes from Monte-type plantations in the central region of Misiones, where native forest conditions contribute to a complex, terroir-driven profile. After barbacuá drying with hot air from a wood-fired campfire, the yerba is naturally aged for more than 18 months—often up to 24 months—allowing tannins to soften and the smoky, woody notes to integrate. Origin: Los Helechos, central Misiones, Argentina Type: Monte yerba mate elaborada con palo (with stems) Natural Storage: over 18–24 months for depth and smoothness Agroecological family production with a strong artisanal focus ✅ Who Will Enjoy Salto Bielakowicz? Salto Bielakowicz is aimed at gourmets and barbacuá lovers who appreciate an intense, smoky Argentine yerba with a complex bouquet rather than a mild beginner blend. If you enjoy Paraguayan-style mates, robust campfire aromas and a strong energy kick, this small-batch yerba from Misiones will feel right at home in your gourd. Perfect for experienced materos seeking a distinctive smoked profile. Great for slow, contemplative sessions where you savor each refill. Pairs beautifully with simple pastries, dark chocolate or nuts. Format & Preparation Each 500g pack comes in a simple, flour-style paper bag with a green label featuring the Salto Bielakowicz waterfall, reflecting the brand’s focus on what is inside rather than flashy packaging. Use a traditional mate gourd filled about two-thirds with yerba, tilt to form a mound and pour warm water first, then hot (not boiling) water along the bombilla side to gently awaken the barbacuá flavors and avoid washing the mate too quickly. Net weight: 500 g (1.1 lb) Cut: medium to fine, with noticeable powder for strong body Best enjoyed as hot mate; can also be tried as a bold tereré for smoke fans Each mate gourd / cup should be filled with Yerba a little over 2/3 of its capacity. Remember to leave a slight slope and insert the bombilla at the bottom of the slope. Once the bombilla is in place, you are ready to carefully pour the water (remember not to let your water boil) for each serving. Learn more about brewing your traditional yerba mate
