Below is my initial review for this mattress. As you’ll see, we were not happy with the purchase, contacted Naturepedic about it and ultimately decided to return it an go with another manufacturer. Our initial purchase was about 1.5 years ago. A couple of months ago someone from Naturepedic contacted me and said that they re-designed the mattress and asked if we would be field testers. They had gotten similar complaints to ours which prompted a look at their Quality Assurance processes as well as the overall design of the product. We agreed to test out the redesigned version of the mattress. They sent us a new one (this time a twin which we requested). You’ll see the first two pictures are the original mattress that we returned. It literally looks deflated and never expanded after sitting out for a week or so with no one laying on it. The third picture is of the mattress immediately after unpacking. It was already so much better. The redesign is much improved! We can’t feel the springs through the top like we did with the original and the padding on the top of the mattress is soft without giving up the firmness of the mattress which we want for our growing kids. I have spent the night on it to be next to my sick kiddo (my 1.5 year old is still in a crib and we currently have this mattress in his room for guests until he is out of his crib) and found it really comfortable. I tried the original one we had as well and I gave up partway through the night because I felt every spring in my back! After speaking with the company and learning about the changes they made to the design as well as getting to try out the mattress for ourselves, I’m giving the mattress 5 stars. I have already recommended it to friends and family who were looking for a safe, eco-friendly mattress for their kids.Initial Review: “I normally don’t write reviews but this product suprised me with how bad it was. The mattress arrived rolled up as we expected and we let it lay ourtfor a day to fluff back up. However, it never really fully expanded even after 3 or 4 days. The pictures show a relatively plush, or at least cushioned top but ours was wrinkled and looked like it wasn’t stuff all the way. When laying on the bed we could feel every spring. I contacted the manufacturer, Naturepedic, to see if this was a lemon and sent pictures. The response from the company was that the mattress looked fine. When they responded that nothing seemed wrong I asked if feeling the springs and no cushion on the top is their expectation of their product because I wanted to know if I should return it or exchange it. They said the mattress seems to be as expected. Luckily Amazon is great about returns. Overall, I do not recommend this product. I wanted to love this product because there aren’t many organic mattressoptions for kids. We found out we have a small, local organic mattress manufacturer that does not use flame retardants that we will be purchasing a mattress from instead.”
