Medieval dagger, for decorative use exclusively. A baselard dagger was a type of rigid dagger used in Europe during the Late Middle Ages (beginning in the 13th century). It’s characteristic “H” shaped handle makes it a very interesting weapons with a lot of variantions. This weapon was used by a wide variety of people, including merchants and knights, although there’s a scene at “Cantigas de Santa María” codex that shows a shepperd which is carrying one of these attached to the belt. As other daggers, it also was carried at the waist as a general-purpose tool, a battle weapon, or as a secondary weapon in a jousting tournament. This piece was designed with a noticeable “H” shaped design, with riveted wooden handles and a double-edged high carbon steel blade. It includes a scabbard made of cowhide and features a riveted belt loop. The blade is sharp.
