Entitlements

Changes in allowances for post-surgery breast care products, as announced by the Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly, in December 2024. These changes apply to all women in Ireland, irrespective of whether they have a medical card or not.

Women who wear a breast prosthesis as a result of breast surgery for breast cancer will now be allowed the following every year:

• €400 towards 2 bras and 1 prosthesis every year. (This increases to €650 for post double mastectomy)
• €150 towards the cost of 1 Swimsuit and 1 Swim Prosthesis every year. (This increases to €215 for post double mastectomy)

All you have to do is:

1. Get a letter from your GP or Consultant stating that you have had breast surgery and require 2 bras, 1 prosthesis, 1 swimsuit and 1 swim prosthesis. Your GP can email that letter to us directly at [email protected], or post to the address above or you can bring the letter with you on your appointment day.

2. Contact us by phone 021 6032000 or email to schedule an appointment or if you are happy with the products that you received in the previous year, you have the option to re-order them.

We will take care of all the paperwork with the HSE – we will just need your signature once you are supplied.
