This peculiar amulet was inspired by a pendant found at Stare Mesto, Praha, Czech Republic. Dated from the 9th century. The original was made of bronze with the granulation/filigree technique, so common in Slavic regions. Our replica, although it’s casted in bronze, shows with accuracy all details of this antique technique. Lunula-shaped amulets were common as jewellery among the Slavs, Rus and Eastern Vikings during the Viking Age. The lunula amulet had a significance mainly as a magical protection for girls and women. The Slavic Lunula amulets in the shape of the half moon are symbols for the female powers and illustrate the power of the moon.
