Gothic bow fibula. Replica of an original find dated from 3rd-4rd centuries. Brooches very similar to this were used by visigothic and ostrogothic cultures. They were usually worn by women and were used to fasten opened tunics or “peplos”, which were fitted to the waist with a belt and hang from the shoulders with the aid of these closures.
