Discover our replica of a Viking Age horse brooch, inspired by archaeological finds from the historic Viking city of Birka. Dating from the 9th-10th centuries, the design is based on an original brooch found in grave Bj 854, an exceptional find consisting of a pair of (symmetrical) brooches accompanied by various Viking grave goods. These brooches were worn below the shoulders, replacing the traditional oval brooches that fastened Viking women’s clothing, and likely serving the same function. This piece was handcrafted in high-quality bronze. The brooch features a pin on the back, perfect for fastening the neck of your tunic or dress. Dimensions: 5 x 3 cm.
