Red Dragon HEMA Synthetic XT Longsword The Blade: The longsword blades from Red Dragon are made from a special plastic compound. The upper third of these strong and flexible training blades is designed to bend towards the tip to allow for a safer thrust, as with, for example, wooden swords. The connection between the blade and the tang is reinforced by a strong steel rod, which also ensures that the handle does not bend as with other plastic training swords. The Pommel: Classified as Oakeshott T5, the pommel is primarily designed to shift the centre of gravity towards the guard for easier handling. These are made from a special blend of plastic and metal powder to increase their weight and thus move the centre of gravity of the training sword to which they are attached closer to the quillons. The Guard: The design of the guard for the Longsword blade by Red Dragon Armoury was based on a historical find from the 15th century. The Handle: The handles for the HEMA Longsword by Red Dragon Armoury are made of TPE which absorbs impacts on the blade to ensure a secure grip.
